Commissioner of Agriculture

The Commissioner of Agriculture leads the state’s agriculture department, managing agribusiness promotion, food safety, consumer protection, and resource conservation. Responsibilities include enforcing agricultural laws, testing food for purity, regulating weights and measures, managing state forests, and, depending on the state, handling consumer fraud or concealed weapons licensing.

The Florida Commissioner of Agriculture serves four-year terms and is strictly limited to serving two consecutive terms. After leaving office, a former commissioner can run again for the same position after sitting out for at least one term.
