Circuit Judge

A Florida circuit judge is an elected trial court official who presides over major civil and criminal cases. Responsibilities include presiding over felony trials, family law (divorce, custody), juvenile matters, probate, and civil lawsuits where disputes exceed $50,000. Judges must interpret the law, ensure fair trials, and manage large caseloads.

Florida circuit court judges do not have term limits. They serve in 6-year terms and can be re-elected indefinitely, provided they meet all other state requirements.
